Ask for it: It’s yours…IF

There is a condition for getting what you
want from God. It’s a big IF. Jesus tells us
about it in John 15:7 “If you remain in me
and my words remain in you, ask for
whatever you want and it will be done for
you.”

Off the bat, isn’t this a most amazing promise, maybe THE MOST amazing, considering the things we could ask for? I’m thinking WOW! Whatever I want!

Then, the condition comes to mind: I must remain in Him and His words must remain in me. Here are some synonyms for remain: endure, last, abide, go on, carry on, persist, hang in the air, stay around, stand, be extant, hold out, prevail. We can’t make it a habit to be doing things He doesn’t
approve of and still remain in Him. Our minds and bodies need to be clean and set aside for His service. He made us. Doesn’t He have a right to our service?

We must put 100% faith in Jesus to save us. That faith can’t waver, diminish or ever end. The second ‘remain’ concerns His words living in us. Real easy to fall short here too! When did you last read the Gospels and
memorize some of His words? The entire Bible is His words. Remember what Jesus said to Satan when Satan tempted Him to turn stones into bread to demonstrate His
Deity? “It is written: ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)

Looks like if want all of our prayers answered, we must be in His Word as a daily practice. We can’t please Him if we
don’t know what He requires. His Word tells us. So, is it worth the cost to abide in Him and have His words abide is us? What is that great thing you would like to achieve
or attain? How much will it bless you and others? Are you and they worth it?

If you are thinking ‘that is just getting too religious. It’s too much to sacrifice,’ are you forgetting what He sacrificed to keep us out of Hell and guarantee us eternal life? Let’s
obey Him and He will grant our requests and we’ll do great things for ourselves and others. No IF’s about it!
