St. Bonaventure Men’s Annual Retreat at Our Lady of Florida – April 1 – 3

Our annual retreat at Our Lady of Florida in North Palm Beach is a great opportunity for spiritual growth, reflection, fellowship and rest. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. It is very different from an Emmaus retreat. The pace is very relaxed, and participants can attend the talks and sessions (which are led by the retreat house priests and sisters) or not, as the need/mood/Spirit leads. There is quite a bit of free time to read, pray, meditate, or just share in some fellowship. Unlike Emmaus, you can attend as many times as you like.

Each year there is a different theme and quite a number of us have been attending each year for many years. It begins on a Friday evening and ends around noon on Sunday. This year’s retreat will be held the weekend of April 1st to 3rd.

The theme this year is “BE COMPASSIONATE AS OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS COMPASSIONATE.” Compassion is the most powerful force in the world. It can defeat indifference, intolerance, and injustice and help us to reinstate peace, love, and unity. Our Savior humbled Himself to live among us, identifying with us. On our behalf, “though He was in the form of God… emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant” (Philippians 2: 6-7). And feeling as we feel and weeping as we weep, He died on a cross, sacrificing His life to save ours.
